The Chehalis Flying Saucer Party

The Chehalis Flying Saucer Party- Celebrating the summer of the saucers! Speakers, vendors, live music, exhibits, and more! In 1947, Idaho businessman Kenneth Arnold took off from the Chehalis airport and while over Mineral, WA witnessed nine “flying disks” near Mt. Rainier. From his report, the term “flying saucer” was coined. This fueled a phenomenon across the country as more people came forward to share their accounts of strange objects in the sky. We will be celebrating Kenneth Arnold’s mark on history and other reports from around the Northwest.

The Chehalis Theater will show Mystery Science Theater 3000’s “Laser Blast” and “Space Mutiny” with a feature presentation of “Earth vs the Flying Saucers” Live music at McFiler’s Bar & Grill by Tinkham Road, The Jacked Lords, and The Chris Crow Project.
Lewis County Historical Museum Exhibits will include “Saucer Sightings in Lewis County” and “Flying Saucers in Popular Culture”. Kid’s entertainment at the museum will include a flying sauce drop, balloons by Mr.Twister, an appearance by R2-D2, and more free fun! Vendors will be at the museum and at City Farm.
